The "SWAN" is reborn
in Shetland
(1991- ? )

The story in pictures

Out with the old..

Once the 'Swan' returned to Shetland, the full extent of the work became more apparent.

Old frames and timbers had to be removed, because of corrosion of the nails, not rot, in the wood. Additionally, the deck level had to be returned to its original height.

Old skills were re-learned, and the major timbers were gradually replaced

Once the frames had been replaced,
it was time to start on the planking.
