  • Sumburgh Head Redevelopment Sumburgh Head Redevelopment

    The Sumburgh Head area at the southernmost tip of Shetland is set to be redeveloped in a £5.4 million project due to begin later in 2011. Shetland Islands Council has approved planning permission for the project which will see the area transformed into a top class visitor attraction.

    Old Scatness Broch and Iron Age Village will be open at Up Helly Aa again this year for visitors to tour the site, see a range of craftspeople demonstrate traditional skills and take part in living history activities.
